In America, we put gratitude on the calendar – the fourth Thursday of November each year. – Harvey Mackey

Seems we have named the days that follow Thanksgiving. In that spirit, here are a few more:
Thanksgiving Day
For some, a favorite day – gratitude, family, friends, food, and football. For others, a day with people they do not like (the weird uncle and/or obnoxious sister-in-law).
Black Friday
A day spent (yuk, yuk) forgetting about what Thanksgiving is all about. What happens at a red tag event on black Friday? Sounds ominous... Actual quote by a human, “Shopping puts me in the Christmas mood.”
Small Business Saturday
“All we are saying is give us a chance.”
Death Defying Sunday
Starts with a trek to the country for the privilege of wielding a saw among kids running amok. Then, lay on frozen tundra to cut down a pine tree. And, pay more for the privilege.
Next, go home and spend the rest of the day risking life and limb by hanging lights on the house and/or the tree. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission:
“During November and December 2015, there were six fatalities and an estimated 14,000 injuries treated in hospital ERs nationwide, due to holiday decorations. That’s an average of about 230 injuries per day during the holiday season!”
Note – do not drink and decorate.
Cyber Monday
Spend money in the comfort of your home.
Giving Tuesday
Give money (and thanks!) in the comfort of your home.
Walking Wednesday
Get outside your home! Set a goal – example: walk 1/10 mile for every $10 spent on Black Friday. If you spent $100, walk a mile.
Giving Thanks Thursday
One week after Thanksgiving, a quiet evening with the ones you love. And, thank them.
Faith based Friday
What if we added another day of faith to the calendar???
Fruit Cake Food Fight Friday
For those without faith. No one likes fruit cake, why not drench it in more rum and throw it at each other?
Souper Saturday
Have a cup of hot soup and volunteer at a soup kitchen. Better yet – volunteer more than once!
Stupor Saturday
For those that participated in Fruit Cake Food Fight Friday and ate all the cake stuck to their clothes…
Service Sunday
Go to a worship service. Not because it’s a holiday, but because you want (or need) to.
How about you? What day would you add to the calendar? Share a story!
