Two is the middle child of numbers - generally, flying under the radar.
Nobody remembers who finishes number two. Do you notice the reactions of Olympic athletes? A recent Washington Post article reports worldwide and across cultures Bronze Medalists are happier than Silver Medalists. The silver medalists try to look happy while disappointed with second place. Bronze medalists are happy to get on the podium.
April 1 is the two-year anniversary of Taste the Food and I feel more like the bronze medalists – happy to be here.
Back to two. There is also mass confusion between two, to and too. Generally, we get two right because it is a number. Still, we mix two, to and too - especially to and too. Messrs. Miriam and Webster explain that "too" is an adverb (excessively) and "to" is a preposition (denoting movement). Thus, it seems, excessive movement should be "tooo." As in “Tooo infinity and beyond!”
For grammatists – is one or both of these questions proper:
Is using too two times to often?
Is using to two times too often?
Not all is bad for two. Being the middle child, two learns the value of teamwork. Two teams with ten to become the largest single syllable number – 12. Finally, two is on top of the podium (albeit in a team sport).
What does all this have to do with the 2-year anniversary of Taste the Food. Literally, nothing.
Tooo infinity and beyond? In year three of Taste the Food, look for a small renovation of the website. And, podcasts are in the works!
